Gordon Milne

Associate

Gordon’s background is as a professional actor with extensive experience in theatre, film, television and commercials. He is also a bookbinder, having lectured on book history and served on the editorial board of the journal New Bookbinder. While taking his degree in bookbinding as a mature student Gordon supported his free-lance career in the commercial world of business development and market research, where his informal mentoring and coaching of colleagues in various companies led him to realise not just a flair for helping people, but the vital importance of empathy and respect in the workplace. Gordon sees his career as a coach as the logical bringing together of all the disparate skills and experiences he has acquired from the film studio to the boardroom.

Gordon’s style is one of empathy, humour, wisdom and a little toughness, working well with individuals or groups; an anecdotal style without ever forgetting the desired goals of his clients. He has long experience of providing support within organisations in transition and restoring self-belief in those facing redundancy. Gordon has a particular expertise in using role play for practising assertiveness and overcoming interview anxiety, and especially in perfecting the ‘elevator pitch’, adapted from years of attending castings for television commercials of which he has appeared in over 130 throughout the world.

Along with personal clients in the acting and commercial world Gordon has supported individuals and teams in a diversity of sectors including finance, technology, retail, government departments and academe as well as being a consultant to SMEs in marketing, procurement, design and construction.
